Dear Friends,

Hope all of you are doing well. First of all, Subho Bijaya to every member of the Calcutta Project family.

Like every year, this year too we organized “UTSAV” on 24 September 2025 for the commercial sex workers of the Sonagachi area. As in the previous year, the event was held on the rooftop of our Konika building, providing a familiar and friendly environment for all participants.

The programme served as a general awareness initiative focusing on health and safety precautions to be taken during the Durga Puja season in connection with their work and overall well-being.

Dr. Bikas Basu welcomed all the attendees and gave a brief introduction about the purpose of Utsav. Our General Secretary, Mr. Sekhar Chattopadhyay, then shared his valuable views and thoughts about the event and other ongoing projects.

Dr. Gitali Roy Mitra delivered an informative session on the best usage of cosmetics through an engaging PowerPoint presentation, which was greatly appreciated by the audience.

This year, our special guests included the Local Councillor of Ward No. 17, Mr. Mohan Kr. Gupta, along with the delegates from ITC Ladies and Social Welfare Society, whose presence made the occasion even more meaningful.

The event concluded with a delightful cultural programme by the Konika children, followed by the distribution of food packets and sarees among the sex workers. Additionally, condoms were provided as part of our health awareness and safety initiative.

The programme was a great success and was appreciated by all participants. Detailed feedback will be shared later by the respective monitor. Meanwhile, we are sending a few photographs of the event for your kind perusal and record.
